Thanks. :P Actually it was supposed to be broadcasted within 426 intranet, that's why the tune is a bit mushy. hope you guys did not throw up ;)

my phd topic is photonic crystal structures based on SOI. since we are a very small group and had no experimental experience before, it would be a long way to go. my master was dealing with resonators made of silica, and we measure the mechanical modes due to the mutual coupling between optical and mechanical modes of the cavity. have no idea about how to measure small forces, good luck ;)

true.
in my college years, i often copied the computer codes and modified a little before i handed in. now my job is basicly coding in FORTRAN. have to pick up everything from the beginning.

I'm still not quite familiar with this resonator thing. It's just some kind of huge resonator cut from a SOI wafer, I think. We need it to measure some very very small forces.

For Germans, I also think they are extremely into details and doing things into perfection. Our lasers are all from Germany. I guess this one probably spent too much time in US (i think he did his under here), so has been inevitably influenced, hoho.

ps: I saw your happy photos the other day on yuki's blog, hoho, good taste;)

you are doing Si resonator on SOI structures?

BTW: German normally are very clever and careful when they do some experiments. This one is not a typical German I think. cmft
