Only seven months after the last season’s show, PR 5 this time had six designers show their collections at Bryant Park. Of course there are decoys among the six. Maybe because it’s the last season the show is on Bravo, they want to be generous? It’s nice but not very wise of Bravo to do this, because the talent pool of this season is just …. weak. Anyway, at least not all of them are that bad, ha. Leanne’s collection is my favorite. Although the pleating may be a little too much, it’s very her point of view. Korto’s is also nice. I’m sure the winner will be one the these two and I hope it’s Leanne. As for the other four, they have one or two OK pieces (except for Suede whose collection is totally sad…), but still, basically not up to par.

Show day! This season Project Runway had all the top 5 designers show their collections at Bryant Park. Whether one or two of them are decoys is still yet to know. Among the five collections, I definitely like Christian’s the best (I think the second-to-the-last look is probably my favorite?). Yes, he is kind of arrogant and annoying, but you got to admit he’s got some real talent. Actually I like his character, he is fierce, haha! Here are the five collections. Which one do you like the most?
我热爱的 Project Runway 第四季开始播了一阵了，我在tumblelog上有提，但一直没像前几季一样在blog上提，原因之一是到目前为止我都没太被“wow”到，四个星期了我都没啥 early favorite，不知道是因为这季比较弱还是因为审美疲劳，就像之前主持人 Heidi Klum 被问到新一季如何时的回答，”same shit, different people”，hoho。第二集时请了 Sarah Jessica Parker 算是一大亮点，不过最后的作品多数也还是相对一般。第一集的无限制自由设计和第三集的无聊保守男装就更是一般的很了。但我还是每周三很认真的观看，所以还是写写吧。这星期的第四集，challenge是把已经过气的时尚重新再创造，每人分到一种时尚，然后三人一组，要求三个设计体现各自的升级后的时尚但同时互相呼应。其实这个挑战还算挺有意思的，虽然我对时尚历史完全没有了解，但其中有几个时髦过的东西连我都有印象，代表就是“垫肩”-_-。我还模糊记得小时候某段时间，不管女装男装还是童装，都会常常出现大小各式垫肩，到了现在显然就成了昨日黄花，很不常见了。所以说审美观这东西在很大程度上讲是一件很肤浅不定性的东西，而且无论你如何保持高尚独立，或多或少仍然会受所谓时尚的影响，不管是跟进或者逆行。时尚是门学问但不属于科学的范畴，衣服做工好坏也许有个绝对标准，但是否好看是否能流行就受很多东西的影响也具备很大的随机性，并没有一个准则，一个设计师是否成功是否有才华更取决于他的观点和视角是否稍稍超前但同时符合所谓的大环境，在一定角度上似乎和画家等很有类似性。说回PR的这一集，我觉得相对优秀的两组（右图的第一行和第二行，其中第一行胜出）其实还不错。个人喜欢第二行的多一点点，如果非要说一个 early favorite，恐怕会是这组的头儿，Christian，哈，烦人自负但是有趣有才有观点。只是遗憾的是评审直接让他们过关，居然都没叫回模特让观众们仔细看看。最后被淘汰的是第三行的右一，而他要改造的过气时尚就是垫肩@_@，这是说垫肩是无可救药了嘛。最后要说的就是，这一段话中的相当一部分，其实是为了凑字数使文字部分长过图片好排版，yoyo。
New York Fashion Week! As always, all the top 4 designers from Project Runway 3 showed their collections one of which is the decoy for the sake of TV schedule. I was very much looking forward to their collections since I knew all the top 4 designers have their own points of view, and they are very different from each other. But kind of to my surprise, they all seemed to tune themselves down a little bit too much, thus didn’t really show enough of their “signatures” which I believe they all have. Of course these designers are very talented, and their collections are still good. Some pieces are actually quite interesting. But as collections, I think they all lack some consistencies. Maybe it’s just my taste and I may change my mind anytime especially after I see them in motion. In all, the collections are very good, but just not as refreshing as I expected.
It’s still very difficult to tell who the decoy is. But I don’t think it matters. In season two, the collection I loved the most was from the decoy Kara Janx-_-.

update: Season one winner Jay McCarroll also showed his Spring 2007 collection (photos) in the Fashion Week. About his collection, all I can say is: How can you not love Jay? His garments are still very refreshing, yet wearable. You can see his signature “circles”, but this time there are squares too and they look amazing. And the colors! I love colors, hehe. Besides womenswear, there are also menswear in the collection. Jay mentioned in his show “Project Jay” that his line won’t be too expensive. Were I have chance, I must buy one of his clothes!
update: There’s no decoy this season. The final winner is Jeffery, though I think Uli deserves to win.
昨晚这一集的挑战是给每个设计师分配一个若干十年前的Fashion Icon，给她们设计一套符合她们个性但又现代化的服装，最终Michael获得了胜利。我个人很喜欢Michael, Uli和Laura的设计。其实从最一开始Michael就显示出很强的实力，只是还一直没有在单独挑战中被评审看中。他的设计很大胆，风格很多样没有重复的感觉，我觉得他绝对值得进最后前三。Uli的设计在样式上也许变化不够，但是她对花纹的处理简直就是无敌，我也觉得她应该进前三，我会很期待她最后的collection，不知道会有多少疯狂的花纹。Laura我其实一直不是特别喜欢，主要是她设计的风格不对我的口味，而且略微有重复的感觉，不过这次的设计干净利落我觉得很不错。下周还能再看一集然后再下一个周三就要启程回国了，就没法第一时间看到了:(
今天穿着红，却并没带来什么好运。Keith离开了Project Runway 3，而且还是以一种最不光彩的方式被驱逐。他违反规则绝对是他的不对，但他真的是一个很有才华的设计师，这样的离去真的可能会毁掉他的职业生涯。我还有一篇paper要赶，没时间多说，明天再补，但是我真的替Keith感到惋惜。咳。他没能亲手完成的设计是我这一集的最爱，hands down。
update: Keith被赶出节目的原因是没有把明确禁止携带的fashion的一些相关书籍上交，而且事实上除了刚开始录制时强调过一次违禁物品，事发前一周制作人因为听到一些流言，又向他们强调过一次，不过Keith还是没交。而且在被告发后第二天，在出去一起拍摄宣传材料时，其余参赛者对Keith都很不友好，不过也不能怪他们，但就造成Keith突然从车上逃离，消失了4个小时。最后的结果就是他被驱逐了。咳，规则就是规则，不完全遵守规则其实不算什么，但是被抓住那就只能说明你还是不够聪明。算咯，其实也没什么太多说的，毕竟只是一个竞赛秀，何况 bad publicity 有时反而有诡异的好作用。其实我欣赏Keith，除了他的自信（或说自负）和才华，还有一部分原因是我和他在某些方面很相像。我向来是喜欢有些与众不同，不喜欢苛守规则，在和人交流时常容易不自觉的太冲，虽然算自信但却总有自卑情绪突袭。反正Keith被开了，那我就开始全力支持小美女Alison吧！本来从第一集开始，这两人就是我最喜欢的两个。
